Vision - Church Planting

As missionaries, our primary ministry is church planting.  It is our desire to see a number of Independent Baptist churches planted in the Starr County, Texas area.  With a current population of over 60,000 people there is a need for at least 6 churches to reach 1% of the population (at 100 individuals per church).  According to projections the population of Starr County could increase to 150,000 over the next 15 years.  At that point the need for churches proportionally increases to 15 to reach the same 1% of the population.  As you can well see, there is a great amount of work to be done, even in this relatively small area.

Our primary focus for church planting will be in the cities of Rio Grande City and Roma.  As these become established we will work outward to the towns of Kelsay, Garciasville, La Grulla, La Rosita, El Sauz and other larger towns throughout Starr County.  Of course, this plan is extremely flexible depending on the leading of the Holy Spirit and the actual growth of Starr County as the population continues to increase.

It is our intention that every church we plant in Starr County become a completely autonomous, completely self-supporting church, under the leadership of the local membership and a locally trained pastor.  Until such time as a local pastor can be trained and ordained into the ministry I will fill the role of interim pastor, but have no intention or desire to remain as the pastor of any of these churches.  Additionally, I will never receive any salary as the interim pastor of these churches, but will instead instruct these churches in using those funds to prepare for the arrival of their future pastor.

Although church planting is our primary ministry, we recognize that there are a number of supportive ministries that can be utilized to aid us in accomplishing this primary ministry.  These other ministries are covered in more detail in other areas of this website.
