Just 1 day but quite a bit of progress on the building. I managed to finish about 1/3 of the first layer of tape/mud. Fortunately, I was interrupted in the middle by a visit from the AC guy. He had told me over the phone that it would be at least $1,300 to install everything. When he came and found out we were a Baptist church he lowered the price to $500. He's a member of a Baptist church in Escobares and wanted to "do right by us". That price includes all of the materials and labor for installing all of the ducts, the electrical hookups (including 2 breakers), the drain line, the thermostat, servicing the units and the freon charge. So, not a bad deal. They began today and should have everything finished tomorrow. He also let me know the unit that was donated to us is a 1.5 ton unit and that it's a "good model". So, quite a praise. Today it rained a little so the fire department gave me permission to go ahead and burn the debris from the construction (we're technically under a fire ban). So, another praise. Things continue to move forward!

I had to cut a hole in the wall for the new AC unit.

Another view of my hole.

This is the backside of the wall.

I'm eventually going to plywood this whole wall, but for now I went ahead and did the section where the AC unit has to go.

I built this stand this morning and put the AC unit in place. Then they came and began work on the ducts themselves.

A closer view of everything in place.

The other day I also built this doorway between the new building and the casita. The doors are 8' tall.

While taking photos I noticed this tarantula on the back of the garage. He went through a hole and inside. Not sure where he is now.

Here you can see the inside vents for the AC as well as the return for the AC unit when the unit actually in place.

The gate from the outside. This is the first time in 2 years we've had a gate here that we can open from either side. It still needs a little trim work and some paint, but it's getting there!
