7/10/2010 8:31:48 PM

Well, a little bit of an update for you today. First, the river. It's been absolutely quiet here today with little news. However, this evening the river jumped 2.5 feet in 15 minutes. They were calling for a crest of 55.4 feet on Sunday afternoon/evening, but the current depth is 59.4, so we're a little over. I'm going out here shortly to survey the closest point to us and see how close it may be. More news on that as it becomes available. As for the building, we made a huge amount of progress today. Or, rather, the visitors made a lot of progress. I was answering questions and going for supplies in order to keep them moving along. Shown below are some photos. Tomorrow we will have services here on the property and then resume work on the building on Monday morning. If we keep the current schedule then on Monday all of the framing will be done, including all of the siding and roof sheeting. We will also have all the windows in. On Tuesday we will finish all of the roof itself in terms of shingles and such, and finish up any remaining exterior work like eaves, trim and other miscellaneous tasks. That leaves the rest of the week to work on progress inside the building starting with electrical, then insulation and drywall. We are making good time and not having many problems, so please keep praying for us this week!

The guys from Grace Baptist Church arrived around 7:30 on Friday evening.

First thing Saturday morning we were out working, cleaning up the site and making preparations.

Everything has to be plumb and level which requires a lot of measurements.

We also had to take down our temporary wall which was built for the hurricane.

A view of the wall coming down from inside.

Now the new walls can begin being built.

A little more demo work to remove a few obstacles.

Scott is going to be busy all day cutting wood. But, he does a good job.

I don't think he likes his picture being taken.

Addie works on cookies for lunch (dessert).

The end wall is framed and partially sided and ready to be lifted.

Now they are working on the front wall.

The end wall is going up and being attached to the concrete.

They have to make sure that everything is still plumb.

And still plumb....

All of the outside walls are in place.

A better view of the main outside wall with the window openings.

A better view of where the windows will go.

Mike made the mistake of mentioning that he installs garage doors, so he was drafted to fix ours.

Scott and Tom checking things out.

A good view of the inside. The window openings still need to be cut out.

Teddy Dehart is a missionary in Edinburg. He came out to bring some tools and help with construction. He made the mistake of mentioning that he works on small appliances/electronics so we had a few extra tasks for him.

The yard's a mess, but the building is looking better.

A view from the front.

Marking off the windows to be cut out later.

Teddy working on the refrigerator which broke when the last group was here.

Now they are working on the rafters.

More rafters/joists going up.

A side view.

We're done for the day. It's hot, we're tired and it's time to clean up.
