"Nadie tiene mayor amor que éste, que ponga alguno su vida por sus amigos."

As we finish up our deputation we are beginning to transition our website to focus more on the ministry related activities which we will be involved with in Starr County, Texas.  To that end, we have provided links that explain some of the various ministries in which we seek to be involved.  We encourage you to take the time to get more information concerning each of these, and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

NOTE: We will begin language school at the Independent Baptist Language School of Southern Texas in McAllen on August 18th, 2008m, and will be focused on these courses for the next 8 months.  Though we will certainly be making progress towards beginning the ministries shown above, most activity will not actually begin until the summer of 2009, once we have completed our language training..

2008 07-03
Today we are in Harrisburg, Illinois. We've actually been here a few days, but since I didn't put a post out yet, well........ We are going to be here for a few more days....actually a few more days than we originally intended to be here (more on that in a moment). Since our last update we've been busy with a number of meetings. We left Ohio and went down into Tennessee and then back up here into Illinois. We are staying on the grounds here at Bible Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Illinois, and had services with them last night. We will have services again with them on Sunday morning and then I will be travelling from here up to Effingham, Illinois, on Sunday afternoon for a meeting with Southside Baptist Church. In other news, if you've read any of our recent updates or our July prayer letter, then you know that we are actively trying to sell our truck and RV. We've made a little progress! As of today we reached an agreement with a dealer here in Illinois to trade our RV in towards the purchase of a mini-van. They gave us $250 less than our asking price for the trailer (which really impressed us) and then took $6,900 off the sticker price of the van to get it down where we can afford it! They really went the extra mile to get us into a very nice van at a very reasonable price. To top it all off, we will walk away from the dealer with a reasonable check because they owe us money (the trailer was worth more than the van we are purchasing). I kind of like purchasing vehicles this way. Please do continue to be in prayer regarding the truck though, as we do still need to sell it. Melissa and I will be parting ways this coming Tuesday (July 8th), with me staying up here in Indiana and Illinois for another week to finish our meetings in this area, while she and the kids travel back to Powhatan and stay at her mother's house there. We will meet up again in Virginia on July 17th and finish our last few meetings together before leaving for Texas on July 27th. God continues to provide and has once again taken care of a large need that we have. Below are a number of photos from our recent meetings.
